Worship on the Waterfront

Father’s Day – Worship on the Waterfront Here’s the What, When, Why, Where and How in no particular order What? This event is less than a month away. Please plan now to join us in a special time of praise and worship to celebrate this Father’s Day with your family. We are headed up to Grand Haven’s gorgeous waterfront Stadium. When: Sunday, June 16 with service starting at 7:00 pm Where: Waterfront Stadium located at 1 N. Harbor Dr., Grand Haven, MI 49417 How: Easy, no tickets required; bring blankets and lawn chairs. Why? Family time, special moments, memories not  to be forgotten. You decide WHY.   Additional Details (from the WOW website) :

  • Venue: Worship on the Waterfront is held in the Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium. This stadium was newly renovated in 2018. Gone are the old wood bleacher seats and in is a new grassy amphitheater. Please bring a blanket or lawn chair and have a seat in the grass. Food and drink are allowed in the stadium, so stop on your way and get ice cream. Food and drink will not be sold at the stadium.
  • Time: Gates open at 6:15pm. Worship will start at 7pm and finish around 8:30pm. Feel free to stay after, as the stadium offers the best view of the musical fountain.
  • Cost: WOW is free to attend, thanks to our many sponsors. A free will offering is at your own discretion.
  • Parking: Arrive in town early as parking goes fast. A limited number of handicap and regular parking spaces are available in the lot next to the stadium. Several other lots are available within a block or two of the stadium. If you are unable to find a spot, feel free to park at First Reformed Church, 301 Washington Ave. It is an easy 3 block walk down Columbus St to the stadium. Weather: Please dress accordingly. The stadium is open to the elements, good or bad.
  • The stadium sits on the banks of the Grand River, just upstream from Lake Michigan. Plan on a breeze and temps a minimum of 5-10 degrees cooler then further inland.

17th Annual Cruise-in

Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5-9 PM

COS had the honor of serving food again at this year’s annual event. Thrivent Financial assisted us with seed money and t-shirts and many volunteers and donations helped push this event to an all-time record in terms of donations raised ($35,000).  This year’s benefit helped the Appledoorn family with their many financial needs.  Their 13 year old daughter Chloe suffers from Anorexia Nervosa.  Your attendance and help was so appreciated!! Join us again next year for a fun and exciting night of fellowship as we show our love through Christ, serving others in our community.  Thank you to Terry Reimink and Tom Nunheimer for organizing our church’s participation.

Resisting Temptation

There was no Sermon recorded for Sunday, July 1. The topic was resisting temptations, which include, but are not limited to, being negative, criticizing others, cheating, complaining or gossiping. Change your thoughts to instead be thankful in all things. Bridle your sinful desires, and have confidence that, through His innocent sacrifice, by the grace in what He did for us, that you have the will and the power to lead good, pleasing lives. Amen.
